EU top official, 3 ministers visit Cox’s Bazar Sunday

In the midst of ongoing Rohingya crisis, a top official of the European Union and foreign ministers of three influential countries will pay a trip to Coxs Bazar together on Sunday, which, according to foreign ministry officials, is considered as the expression of solidarity with Bangladesh with regards to the tragedy. The visit, they said, will also further highlight the plight of hundreds of thousands of Rohingyas on the face of the world. EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy and vice-president of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, Japanese foreign minister Taro Kono, German foreign minister Sigmar Gabriel and Swedish foreign minister Margot Wallstrm will be accompanied by foreign minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali during the visit.

However, Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi, who will be in the capital at that time, is highly unlikely to visit Coxs Bazar, said the officials of the ministry. The dignitaries will arrive in Bangladesh
